Music at Westminster

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings for the 11am traditional service in the Friendly Avenue Sanctuary and at other seasonal services throughout the year.  The choir presents at least one concert each year with orchestra.  The ensemble is non-auditioned and is open to youth and adults.  They rehearse each Wednesday (7:30pm—9pm) September through May.  Repertoire ranges from classical choral music to multicultural music.  Singers may join the choir at any time!

The Chancel Choir is anchored by four section leaders who bring wonderful singing experience to the ensemble and occasionally sing solos on Sunday morning.

If you play an instrument or are interested in singing, we welcome and encourage your participation.

Summer Choir

Summer Choir, typically June—August, provides an opportunity for anyone to sing.  The choir meets each Sunday at 10am in the Choir Room on the second floor of the Friendly Avenue Campus. We learn an easy anthem and present it at the 11am Friendly Avenue traditional service.  This is a fun, friendly, stress-free (and robe-free!) way to make music together.

The Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir rehearses each Wednesday (6pm—7pm) September through May.  They ring several times throughout the year at the 11am traditional service in the Friendly Avenue Sanctuary and at the annual Christmas concert.  If you can read rhythm and can commit to weekly rehearsals, consider joining!  If you can’t make the weekly commitment, they're always looking for substitutes.

Worship band

Westminster’s Worship Bands provide musical leadership for contemporary services at both the Friendly Avenue and Lake Brandt campuses. Repertoire is drawn from a variety of musical sources including traditional hymns, contemporary christian, rock, folk and bluegrass. Members of the Worship Band are auditioned.
