Rock Camp is an opportunity for students in middle and high school to learn how to play and sing their favorite songs and then play those songs live on stage! While at camp, students will be put into bands with other peers of the same musical proficiency and will receive instruction and guidance from their band leader and from instrumental and vocal instructors. At the end of the week, the bands will hold a concert for their parents and friends. Registration is now open!
Payments can be made here by entering the amount, selecting "Music Camp" and adding your child's name in the memo line. You can also pay by check in the Church Office.
From Music Director, Clint Whitlow
I am excited to announce ROCK CAMP at Westminster, a new musical endeavor that will not only appeal to our Westminster youth but to the Greensboro youth community at large. ROCK CAMP will take place at Westminster the week of June 17—21 from 5:30pm—8:30pm and will culminate with a concert on Friday night, June 21, for parents and friends at an offsite venue.
ROCK CAMP at Westminster is a dream that I’ve had for many years. I have been playing in bands since my early 20’s and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. What is even more rewarding is being a band leader and forming, instructing, and shaping bands with our youth. Over the years I have been amazed at how music bonds our young people together in ways that would be otherwise impossible. I have seen this most recently with our own Westminster Youth Band. Being part of a band creates a sense of community; a small group that is empowered by the same collective goal to accomplish something phenomenal together.
ROCK CAMP at Westminster will provide an opportunity for youth in middle and high school to come together for a week to learn how to play and sing some of their favorite songs and to perform those songs live on stage in a band with their peers. While at camp, each youth will be put into a band with other peers of their same musical proficiency and will receive instruction and guidance from their band leader as well as from instrumental and vocal instructors. There will be breakout sessions for sectional rehearsals and private instruction. At the end of the week the bands will hold a concert for their parents and friends at an offsite music venue. ROCK CAMP will provide an opportunity for Westminster’s young people to play music together, and it will also provide an outreach opportunity for community youth to play music with our kids.
