October 2024 Update

After a short hiatus to get Rev. Steve Schaick acclimated to Westminster, the Transition Team and Steve have begun the Mission Study phase, as prescribed by the Presbytery. Later this month, they will meet with Session to begin outlining the process and gathering information. A survey of the Congregation will be coming later this fall, and we hope to have the completed Mission Study report ready by late winter.

Once approved by Salem Presbytery, Westminster will be able to move to the next phase of the process. The newly elected 2025 Nominating Committee will propose a slate of nominees to serve on the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) for election by the Congregation. The PNC is charged with finding our next installed Pastor/Head of Staff.

It all started when...

On February 10, 2024 Ernie announced that after much prayer and conversation with his wife Elaine, that he has decided to take early retirement. They plan to move to Raleigh to be closer to family and more involved in their grandchildren’s lives. We are so grateful for Ernie’s 8+ years of leadership as Senior Pastor & Head of Staff.

The Transition Team was formed and approved by Session on February 25, 2024.

“Our goal is to move a quickly as possible, with thoughtful discernment, to locate an appropriate Transitional/Interim Pastor to lead us in preparing for our next Senior Pastor and Head of Staff. We want to be as transparent as possible throughout the process.”
