Meet the staff
Interim Senior Pastor: Bill Waterstradt
Bill Waterstradt, Interim Senior Pastor, grew up at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was baptized when the church was located on Asheboro Street. Bill graduated from UNC-CH, and Union Theological Seminary, where he received a Doctorate of Ministry. He had served as a senior minister for churches in Georgia and South Carolina, and most recently served as the interim senior minister for Guildford Park Presbyterian Church. Minister: Mark Brainerd
Mark Brainerd is Pastor for Congregational Care and Outreach Ministry at Westminster. He joined the staff in August of 2005. Mark's ministry focuses on pastoral care and counseling, outreach, leading worship and preaching. Prior to his call to Westminster, Mark served as a Lilly Minister in Residence at First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. and Th.M.) and the University of Houston (B.A. in Journalism/Public Relations), Mark worked for 12 years in law firm in Houston, Texas before attending seminary. Pastoral Associate: Lucius Gray
A native of North Carolina Lucius graduated from NC State University.He then entered Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA where he earned the Doctor of Ministry degree. Lucius served five pastorates in three states for 37 years. His last pastorate was historic Alamance Presbyterian Church in Southeast Guilford County. Since his retirement in 1995 he and his wife, Norma, have been a part of the Westminster family. Lucius and Norma have a special interest in marriage enrichment. As Pastoral Associate Lucius focuses primarily on hospital visitation and pre-marital counseling. Lucius and Norma especially enjoy spending time with their two daughters, their husbands and granddaughters.
Adult Ministry & Pastor: Butch Sherrill
Butch has been engaged in ministry in Greensboro for nearly 30 years. He received a B.A. degree from Greensboro College and a Master of Divinity Degree from Duke University Divinity School, with two years spent in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Duke Medical Center. He served for 10 years on staff at Greensboro College prior to becoming an associate pastor at West Market Street United Methodist Church where he served for 15 years. After a year as pastor of a church in Davie County, he returned to Greensboro to work with Habitat for Humanity, and more recently as a campus minister at UNCG. Butch is an ordained minister in the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. He and Marian have two grown daughters and a much beloved grandson. You may email him at 
Parish Associate for Youth: Marti Hazelrigg
Marti joined Westminster in May 2009 as a Youth Consultant. In August 2010, she was hired a Director of Spiritual Formation for Children and Youth, and now is Parish Assoicate for Youth. Marti is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Youth Ministry and is an ordained PCUSA minister. Director of Music Ministries: Betsy Hyslop
In January of 2000, Betsy joined the Westminster staff as Director of Children's Music, in 2001 shifted to Director of the Worship Band, and in 2002 became the full-time Director of Music Ministries. Betsy holds degrees in music from Meredith College and UNC-G. In addition to spending her time as pianist and vocalist in the worship band, Betsy heads up the music programs for the children and youth. She and her husband, Greg, are the parents of two adult daughters and her father lives in their home with them. Betsy enjoys running, reading and gardening. E-mail her directly at 
Music Ministries Assistant : Clint Whitlow
Clint Whitlow has a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from UNC-G. He served as Associate Director of Music West Market Street UMC, and Director of Music Epiphany Presbyterian Church. Clint performed with the professional choral group Bel Canto Company and was a founding member, vocalist and keyboardist of The Tred, a locally based rock band which produced two CDs of original music, toured the southeast and served as band/orchestra for The Who’s Tommy, Hair and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Director of Traditional Music: Jonathan Emmons
Jonathan Emmons is the Director of Traditional Music at Westminster Presbyterian Church where he serves as organist and conducts the Junior Choir, Youth Voices, and Chancel Choir, and is artistic director of the Westminster Chamber Singers. Emmons is also assistant conductor of the 100-voice Choral Society of Greensboro. Active both as a conductor and collaborative keyboardist, Emmons is often engaged as a choral clinician, most recently with the Orange County (NC) All-County Children’s Choir and the Randolph County (NC) All-County Middle School Chorus. He served as organist for the 2011 International Boys and Men’s Choral Festival and as accompanist for the North Carolina Music Educators’ Association Elementary Honors Chorus. Additionally, Emmons has written several choral reviews published in Choral Journal, the national periodical for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). E-mail him directly at 
Director of National/International Outreach: Anne Hendrix
Anne has been on staff since July of 2000 and has been the the Director of Fellowship Ministries. In December 2003 her duties changed from Fellowship Ministries to National/International Outreach. She has a degree in Economics and Business from UNC-G. Anne and her husband Bob, have two grown children. Before joining the church staff, Anne served many organizations including the Greensboro Epilepsy Association and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Director of Youth Ministry: Lucy Jefferies
Lucy Jefferies join the staff at Westminster in June 2006. She graduated from Grimsley High School in 1980, and is a graduate of Meredith College with a BS degree in education. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Sternberger Elementary for three years. After working with the youth group, she was enchanted with the gifts that the youth of Westminster had to offer our community and wanted a direct hand in guiding them in their faith journey. She is married to Davis and has two children. She loves to play tennis, walk, cook, giggle, and be around children of all ages. You can e-mail her directly at 
Director of Children and Family Ministries: Lynn Turnage

Lynn joined the staff in August 2011 as the Director of Children' and Family Ministries. Lynn did her undergraduate work at UNC-CH in Recreation Administration, has an M.A. in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and did her Doctorate of Educational Ministry (Columbia Theological Seminary) in children, families, & worship. Assistant Director of Children's Ministries: Melinda Thomas
Melinda joined the staff on July 2008. She serves as Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry. She is the lead Children's ministry at the Lake Brandt Campus and has organized numerous Vacation Bible Schools thoroughout the years. Melinda has a special spot for our youngest family members having served as a the preschool field for several years before coming on staff at Westminster. Melinda and her husband Lew have been church members more than 20 years. They have three sons. She plays golf whenever she can, but also loves to watch her boys play in their various sports. Director of Fellowship: Suzanne Andia
Suzanne moved into the position of Director of Fellowship in the Spring of 2006. Previously, she was the Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries since September of 2002. She received her degree in Business from Virginia Tech. Since becoming a member in 1997 she has served Westminster in several areas including Elder, Circle Leader, Women’s Retreat Co-chair, and Coordinator for resettlement of two refugee families. Suzanne and her husband Bert are the parents of two children. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and playing tennis. E-mail her directly at

Administrative Support to Senior Pastor: Judy Phelps
Judy worked at Westminster from 1994-2005 as an administrative assistant and later as the Director of Fellowship. She returned to Westminster in November of 2009 as the Assistant to the Senior Pastor. She and her husband, Dave are the parents of two sons. She loves spending time with family & friends, being outdoors, traveling, & reading. E-mail her directly at 
Administrative Support to Associate Ministers: Emily Black
Emily re-joined the church staff after a “7 year maternity leave,” serving again on the administrative support team, primarily providing support to the Associate Ministers and the youth team. Emily and her husband, Jeff, have 4 boys. The family has been members at Westminster since 1994, and she has enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. E-mail her directly at 
Building and Maintenance Supervisor: Mark Frazier
Mark ("Frazier") joined the staff in January 2001. He is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the church facilities. He also oversees the sound and AV technicians. When not working at the Church, Frazier enjoys spending time with his wife Cindy Bathgate, playing golf, gardening, woodworking and watching football. E-mail him directly at 
Executive Director of Church Operations : Marilyn Fish
Marilyn joined the staff in July 2007 as Executive Director of Church Operations. Her responsibilities include the personnel, office management, and technology-related operations of the Church. Marilyn has been a member of Westminster for 25 years, serving as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Circle leader, Mexico Mission participant, and other volunteer positions. She has a Bachelor's and Master's degrees from UNC Greensboro in Mathematics. She is the mother of two children. Her free time is spent with friends and family, traveling, and reading. Administrative Assistant: Aimee Bostic
Aimee joined Westminster as a member in 1997 and as a staff member in 1998. Her primary responsibilities include membership (contact information changes) and the church calendar. She and her husband, Curtis, have a son. Aimee enjoys spending time with her family and reading. E-mail her directly at 
Director of Communications & Technical Support: Elizabeth White
Elizabeth joined the staff in October of 2005. She's been a newspaper reporter, technical writer, marketing writer and web developer. She is responsible for supporting the committees and staff on church-wide communications and provides technical support to the church office. Finance manager: Jan Swanton
Jan Swanton joined the Westminster staff in June of 2003 as Director of Local Outreach. She assumed the duties of Finance Manager in June 2007. She holds a degree in Sociology from Wake Forest University. Jan and her husband, Tom, are the parents of two daughters. In her spare time, Jan enjoys reading, cooking, and music.
