Westminster Presbyterian Church has been named one of five 2026 Mission Champions by Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina. The award recognizes community partners whose commitment and collaboration have strengthened Goodwill’s mission and made a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves.
Westminster was selected following nominations from Goodwill staff who witnessed the impact of our partnership during the past year. Scott Neely, Westminster’s Director of Mission Engagement, accepted the Mission Champion Award on behalf of the church during Goodwill’s recent recognition celebration.

One of the most meaningful moments of the event came when a woman shared her experience of rebuilding after circumstances beyond her control threatened her stability. While completing job training through Goodwill, she received support made possible through Westminster’s Lifting Up Families Fund. That timely assistance allowed her to continue her training and keep moving toward a more secure future.
Today, she is taking steps to establish her own home-care business and is applying to form an LLC.
Her experience is one example of how coordinated support can help individuals and families move through a difficult period without losing the progress they have already made. The Lifting Up Families Fund works through Goodwill and other established community partners, which identify, refer and vet individuals who may benefit from assistance. Westminster does not accept direct requests or applications for assistance through this fund.
This recognition belongs to the entire Westminster community. Through your generosity and commitment to serving our neighbors, individuals and families are receiving practical support at critical moments, and new possibilities are taking shape.
We are grateful to Goodwill for this recognition and for the important work we continue to accomplish together as we seek to heal God’s world.
