Service Descriptions

Contemporary Service

Contemporary service is a blend of contemporary music with mainline theology. These services stay faithful to the Reformed tradition and relevant to contemporary spiritual expression. The service is led by our ministers as well as the Worship Band (consisting of piano, acoustic guitars, bass, percussion and vocalists). See list of service times and locations.

Traditional Service

Traditional Worship is held in the Friendly Avenue Sanctuary on Sunday at 11 am and holds true to the church's Reformed heritage. The service is led by our ministers and the Westminster Chancel Choir accompanied by the organ. Various musicians and vocalists are featured in the service. Songs are from the Presbyterian Hymnal book. See list of service times and locations.

Service for Wholeness & Healing

Services for Wholeness and Healing are held in the Friendly Avenue Chapel on designated Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. This bi-monthly service is generally held the second Sunday in the months of February, April, June, August and October. In these quiet times of worship, there is an opportunity for us to pray for others as well as to receive prayer from the Elders and Pastors for our particular needs for wholeness and healing in body, mind, or spirit. Meditative songs are led by a group of Westminster musicians. In offering this time of worship, we continue not only the teaching and preaching ministry of Jesus but also his healing ministry. This service includes a time for the blessing of the Healing Prayer Shawls. All are welcome. Read more about this service.

Hurting Hearts Service

As the stores are filled with hearts and symbols of love, you may not be "feeling the love." For those whose hearts are heavy, saddened or wounded, come to our Hurting Hearts service where God can begin to transform your heart. February 13, 2011, at 7 pm in the Friendly Avenue Campus chapel. Open Door Youth Worship service

Open Door is a "for youth by youth" worship service that happens at various times throughout the year.  The scripture message is enhanced with videos and music by the Youth Band.  A unique worship space is created by hinged doors created by the youth.

Youth Sunday, April 18, 2010

This is an opportunity for the congregation to get a taste of the Youth's Open Door service. The Youth Band and Worship Band lead the music in worship and the Youth sing hymns that they sing at their Open Door service. The worship leaders are upper level high school students.

 

Children's Worship service

Have your child experience worship while engaging them in children-centric service. In addition to children's church school, Westminster offers two Children's Worship services: Saturday night and Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Friendly Avenue campus. Children sing songs, have a Bible lesson that may include movie clips to illustrate the Biblical message. Preschoolers and nursery-aged children remain in the Children's wing in their classes to learn their Bible lesson. Children's Worship is held in Room 106 of the Friendly Avenue campus.
