Music is a vital and meaningful part of Westminster’s worship life. Our music programs embrace a variety of musical styles and offer opportunities for participation at all ages and levels of experience. Steep Canyon Rangers Concert is SOLD OUT due to overwhelming response
There are no seats available in the sanctuary for the January 22 concert, at 5:00pm at the Friendly Avenue campus. As part of the Westminster Concert Series 2011-2012, Westminster will present the Steep Canyon Rangers in concert on January 22 at 5 pm. An optional dinner will be offered following the concert. The Steep Canyon Rangers have been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for its "Rare Bird Alert" album. Banjo player Graham Sharp is the son of Westminster members Jane and Trevor Sharp.
A love offering will be collected that will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro.

Chancel Choir (High School-Adult)
The Chancel Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble that sings weekly at the traditional service (Sunday 11am, Friendly Avenue Sanctuary) and annually performs two major concerts with orchestra. Minimal music reading skills are helpful. Repertoire ranges from standard classical choral music to multicultural music.
You’re Invited to Sing in the Chancel Choir Christmas Concert - If you’d like to sing with the Chancel Choir for our annual Christmas Concert with orchestra, it’s not too late. Join us for a one hour rehearsal on Wednesdays (beginning November 2) at 7:30 pm. Concerts will take place on Sunday, December 11, 4 pm and 7 pm. Worship Band
Westminster’s Worship Bands provide musical leadership for services at both the Friendly Avenue and Lake Brandt campuses. The role of music in our contemporary services is to enhance and enrich the worship experience. Repertoire is drawn from a variety of musical sources including traditional hymns, Contemporary Christian, rock, folk and bluegrass. Members of the Worship Band are auditioned.

Westminster Chamber Singers
The Chamber Singers is a resident semi-professional auditioned choir consisting of 24 singers that sings advanced sacred and secular literature. Membership is comprised of Chancel Choir members and other regional singers and choral music educators. The ensemble presents four concerts annually and occasionally joins the Chancel Choir to form the Westminster Festival Chorus for other services and performances.

Westminster Festival Chorus
A combination of the Chamber Singers and the Chancel Choir, this ensemble sings on special services and other festive occasions.

Westminster Youth Music
Westminster Youth Voices, our newest ensemble, is a vocal ensemble open to 6th-12th graders which sings music from a variety or styles and genres including contemporary Christian and multicultural music. This group rehearses and sings in worship periodically.
Rehearsal: Sundays from 12:15- 1 pm in Room 206

Junior Choir (2nd - 5th grade)
Junior Choir welcomes children who are in the second through fifth grades. The choir focuses on development of musical skills and healthy vocal production. The choir sings in worship approximately one Sunday each month.

Cherub Choir (K- 1st grade)
The Cherub Choir is open to children in kindergarten and first grade. This is a “first music experience” choir with emphasis on learning basic musicianship through singing, movement, and instrument-playing. This group participates in worship services throughout the year and periodically joins the Junior Choir for church-wide musicals.

Children’s 2012 Music Camp
Westminster’s Music Camp is a week-long day camp for elementary-aged children. The camp meets from 9 am-noon and is for kindergartners through 5th grade as of June 2012. Classes include camp choir, rhythm and movement, hand chimes, recorder playing, and musical craft making. No previous musical experience is necessary. There is a fee for the camp. The camp will be Jun 18-22, 2012

Wholeness & Healing Service Musicians
Westminster offers a monthly meditative service with Taizé music each month.

Summer Chancel Choir
A perfect fit for the life of a busy singer! The choir leads worship in June, July, and August and has no weeknight rehearsal! High School youth and adults are invited to sample the choral experience by coming to the Choir Room (206) on Sunday at 10 a.m. to warm-up, to practice, and then to sing during the 11:00 service. No commitments, no extensive schedule. Participation is simple and fun! Even if your previous singing experience has been behind a shower curtain or steering wheel, this is the group for you! (Childcare is available).
