Please join the long-standing Westminster tradition of building a Habitat for Humanity home for a hard-working Greensboro family. Westminster and several other local congregations will work side by side beginning October 20 continuing through January. Volunteers must be 18 years old with some exceptions. As with all Habitat builds, building skills are not expected or required. Habitat will train the work crews each day for the tasks at hand.
Volunteer registration for our 2018 Habitat build is now open.
Construction Volunteer Information: This build will consist of Saturday workdays only and volunteers must be 18 years old with the following exceptions. Minors aged 16 and 17 can volunteer with a chaperone but are not allowed to use power tools or climb higher than 6’ off the ground. Minors aged 14 and 15 may participate in painting or landscaping projects with a chaperone. As with all Habitat builds, building skills are not expected or required. Habitat will train the work crews each day for the tasks at hand. The workday starts at 7:45am and ends by 3:30pm. Volunteers are expected to stay all day.
Homeowner Information: We will work alongside homeowners, Isameldin and Howaida, who are parents to 4 children: 3 boys and 1 girl. The family came to the United States from Sudan in 2009. Isameldin has been employed with a Triad manufacturing company for several years and Howaida manages the home. The family is looking forward to moving from their small apartment to their own home and a neighborhood where their children can play in the yard.
