As a means of extending our church family, Westminster pairs adults with college students as part of our Secret Saints Ministry. We are looking for volunteers!
The Outreach Committee is looking for individuals or groups to prepare and serve dinner to approximately 20 people at Pathways Family Shelter on Thursdays August 15 and September 19 and the third Thursday of each month.
On Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24 Westminster volunteers will build an accessibility ramp for a low-income Guilford County homeowner through Community Housing Solutions. We are recruiting work team members for both days. 8 - 10 people ages 14 and up are needed each day from 8 am to 3:00 pm. You are welcome to serve one or both days. No experience is necessary but is welcomed.
For the past three years, Westminster has partnered with Grimsley High School by providing mentors for their Success 101 program as part of our Outreach focus on Children in Poverty. Last year Westminster had 14 adults serving as mentors for this innovative program and we're positive that number can grow in the years to come. Mentors and students are paired based on the mentor’s availability during school hours and meet weekly for one hour at Grimsley High School. On Sunday, August 18 Westminster will distribute school supplies to children living at Partnership Village. Needed items include: backpacks without wheels, lined notebook paper, index cards, pocket folders, 2” 3-ring binders, tabbed dividers, pencils, pens, erasers, colored pencils, markers, and rulers. Most of the children living at Partnership Village are in middle and high school. Please place items in the collection bins on or before Sunday August 11.
SAVE THE DATE: One Great Day of Service is Sunday, September 29, 2019. 25 to 30 local service projects will be available for participation by the congregation. Please prayerfully consider playing an instrumental role in this annual Westminster event by becoming a Project Leader. Out of the Garden Fresh Mobile Markets take place at high need Guilford County Schools and Guilford County food deserts. Each location serves between 50 - 90 families monthly with 50 – 70 pounds of fresh, frozen and non-perishable food.
Westminster volunteers are needed on Saturdays August 17, September 21 and the third Saturday morning of each month in 2019.
There will be no Church School in August. Families are encouraged to worship together. Nursery will be provided newborn-4 years old in Room 113.
The Nominating Committee is currently searching for church members who God might be calling to a leadership role in the church.
Westminster will provide lunch on Saturday, July 20 for all volunteers building Habitat homes in Greensboro. Westminster volunteers are needed to prepare lunch beginning at approximately 8:30am in the Westminster kitchen for delivery to the job site by 11am. This is a great opportunity for all ages! This Westminster book study meets each Tuesday at 7am at Delicious Bakery. They are beginning a new book, Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by Barbara Brown Taylor on June 11. This bestselling author recounts her moving discoveries of finding the sacred in unexpected places. Books are available for $17 on a first-come basis in the Church Office. Youth and Children Church School schedule begins June 9.
Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit or crochet? Not sure how to start or what to make? Westminster has a group of dedicated women who gather on Wednesdays from 6:30pm—7:30pm in the Westminster Redington House to socialize, knit, and crochet prayer shawls and other meaningful projects throughout the year. All are welcome, including beginners! Just bring size thirteen needles and join the fun! Questions? Contact Office Administrative Assistant, Emily Black.
Westminster volunteers are needed on Saturdays May 18 and June 15 and the third Saturday morning of each month in 2019 for our Out of the Garden Project Fresh Mobile Market. Youth ages 13 – 16 are welcome with a parent or responsible adult.

The Westminster mission team serving in the Dominican Republic June 15—22 is collecting children’s vitamins; new, small, non-electronic children’s toys, and new baseball gloves and balls for the local children.
Thank you for contributing and putting them in the collection bins outside of Fellowship Hall during the month of May.
We will recognize our high school and college graduates during worship on June 2 and names will be printed in the bulletin.
Our next Greensboro Urban Ministry Weaver House Shelter breakfast is Sunday April 7. Servers and dining room volunteers are always needed at 6:45 am and no sign up is needed for this opportunity. Children elementary school age and older are welcome.
We are also in need of additional cooking volunteers to arrive at 6am.
Westminster has an urgent need for additional Senior Wheels Medical Transportation Program drivers. This program provides rides for ambulatory seniors age 55+ to and from non-emergency medical appointments in Guilford County. On the second Thursday and fourth Monday of every month, a dedicated group of Westminster volunteers serves in this rewarding capacity.
The HR Committee is currently seeking a Finance Manager for 28-32 hours a week.
