Sacred Landscapes: Opening to Life and Wonder

Invite the wonder of spring into your heart with a brief time apart in a beautiful setting. You will have time and space to explore stillness, solitude, and silence that may have gone missing in your busy life.

This mostly-silent Sabbath experience is designed with a spaciousness and pace that enables you to breathe and sink into your spiritual heart. You will be invited into an extended time of silence, with options for resources, guided meditation and quiet conversation. The hope is that you might return to your daily living landscapes renewed and replenished.

St. Francis Springs Prayer Center is a place of peace, beauty and hospitality, a “thin place” where the Holy Spirit feels accessible and that an opening of the heart feels natural, safe and refreshing.

While our theme, Sacred Landscapes: Opening to Life and Wonder, is the basis of our meditations and reflections, expect no “class time” after the opening orientation session. In the beauty of the Prayer Center and its grounds the invitation is to use this time apart as you feel led. This offering is more than a personal retreat; we will be exploring our theme in community. Each element of the retreat is carefully crafted to open us to experiencing the many sacred landscapes of our lives.

The retreat planning team yearns to offer this Sabbath experience to people who may not be able to schedule an overnight stay. There is a Sunday-only option ending at 8:30pm for those who are unable to stay through lunch on Monday. Participants have found both options to be profound experiences of renewal and reflection.

The “real” retreat begins before we even step onto the St. Francis Springs grounds. Our journey together begins in the days before we gather on May 19. Each day, in the week leading up to the retreat, you will receive a brief meditation focused on our theme. In this way, we will create touchstones that will enable us to move more easily and deeply into a retreat rhythm
