Worship > Arts in Worship> Liturgical dance Liturgical danceDance is a language of worship. Like a moving song or an insightful drama, dance can enhance the understanding of the scriptures. Dance in worship is not a new idea as many people in the world incorporate dance as an expression of worship. Dances uses specific movements and gestures to reflect the symbols used in spoken word or through musical pieces. Dance in ScriptureGod tells Ezekiel to "...Strike with your hands and stamp with your feet and cry out Alas!" (Ezekiel 6:11 ) Then the prophet Miriam, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand; an all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing. (Exodus 15:20) "Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. " (Jeremiah 31:13)
