Alternative Giving
The Alternative Giving Sale is generally the first Sunday in Advent, or Sunday November 30, 2008, and is held in the Fellowship Hall at Friendly Avenue Campus. Come browse and shop for people on your Christmas list and give them a gift with a deep meaning of Christmas.
Honor Cards will be sold at the Alternative Giving Sale as well as throughout the Advent season. You may purchase the card at and after the sale in the church office. Honor Cards are like Christmas Cards, but money used for the cards goes directly to the the card's charity. Charities like Heifer International, Mary's House, Sanctuary House, and Habitat for Humanity have specially-designs cards.
Christmas is all about giving, exemplified by God's incredible gift to us in Jesus. One of the great joys of the season is having the opportunity to give to family and friends through Westminster's Alternative Giving ministry. Whether it is the purchase of a pig from Heifer Project, sponsoring a kitchen sink for Habitat, buying a beautiful craft from India, or making a donation in a loved one's name in support of one of several non-profit agencies in Greensboro, this Westminster tradition helps keep the focus on the reason for the season.
2007 Alternative Giving Sale Results
Alternative Giving opportunities during the Advent season in December 2007 generated more than $12,000 to support the following ministries:

- Eastside Park Community Center
- Good News Jail and Ministry
- Greensboro Urban Ministry
- Habitat for Humanity
- Heifer Project International
- Guilford Interfaith Hospitality Network
- Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
- Sanctuary House
- Seven Loaves
- Tools of Hope and Blanket Program (Church World Service)
