Youth Education
Westminster Youth programs are for youth in 6th - 12th grade. It is a time in a person's life when things may seem difficult, but with a relationship with God the tough times may not feel so tough and the good times are enriched.
There are several program milestones in which youth can participate. At the Friendly Avenue campus, the youth have their own house. During the school year youth from both campus are invited to the Youth House. On Sunday evenings our High School Fellowship meets or operates Agape Project with Partnership Village. On Wednesday evenings our Middle School Fellowship meets for fellowship and study on Ancestors from the Old Testament: Unlikely People, Extraordinary Stories.
- Church School: Middle School and High School youth are challenged and nurtured in the faith as they wrestle with the questions of faith in community with their peers. On the 2nd & 4th Sundays, youth gather at our Lake Brandt campus at 9:30 for study and fellowship. On all Sundays, youth gather at the Youth House at 10:30 for fellowship, then Sunday School at 11. Middle School youth classes are divided into classes for 6th & 7th grade boys and 6th & 7th grade girls at the Youth House. Grades 9 & 10 meet in Room 100, while other classes meet in the Youth House. Sunday School Leaders seek to create an environment where youth are able to learn and grow in their knowledge of God and the issues they face with their faith today.
- Confirmation: A year-long journey for 8th grade youth, during the Sunday School hour, where they are able to explore their relationship with God in-depth, and to share that relationship in community with their peers. The journey of Confirmation enables youth to challenge where they are in their faith, and to go further as a community, united in Christ. The class worships together at the 9:30 service at Friendly Avenue prior to the class.
College students can be either Westminster members who have left the area to attend college or students who are attending several of our local colleges and universities. We provide mentor opportunities for the students to work with youth and encouragement through our Secret Saints program.
