Spiritual Growth
Spiritual growth is a never-ending journey in your relationship with God and this world. Growth comes in many different ways:
1. By increasing your knowledge and understanding of God's Word.
2. By increasing your practice of Christ-like qualities through words, deeds and disciplines.
3. By increasing your faith and trust in God.
The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11:1 "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."
We offer several different types of studies to increase your knowledge as well as different opportunities to serve others. Come grow with us.

A Contemplative Path to Creativity
Join with other Westminster members is a retreat where the intent will be to provide an environment in which we might explore our inner creative selves, experience God's presence, and - through silence, practice, and community - live into that part of us which yearns for beauty and creativity. We will journey to the St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Somerville, NC, on Saturday morning, January 14, and return to Greensboro on Sunday, January 15, following lunch. Included in the hours at St. Francis Springs will be opportunities for fellowship, nourishing meals, nature and meditation walks, extended periods of silence for individual prayer and reflection, worship, small group conversation, and artistic exploration in a variety of media.
The retreat is designed to be a stand alone event. However, for those who would like to explore further the spiritual life and creativity, a five-week class will follow the retreat on Wednesday evenings as part of the W.E.L.L. program.
Jane Sharp and Butch Sherrill will serve as retreat leaders. Space is limited to 20 people. The cost of the retreat, which includes overnight lodging and four meals, is $65 per person. For more information, contact Butch Sherrill in the church office.
Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina (divine/spiritual reading) is an ancient Christian practice of scripture reading and prayer that is intended to bring about communion with God and to increase in the knowledge of God’s word. It is a way of reading scripture that becomes a way of living the scripture. Lectio Divina comprises four elements:
Lectio – Reading the text;
Meditatio – Meditating upon the text;
Oratio - Praying/speaking with God about the text;
Contemplatio – Taking the text within and living it.
Two opportunities for Lectio Divina are offered at Westminster on a weekly basis from September through May:
Wednesdays – 10 -11 am in the Chapel.
Thursdays – 7:45 – 8:30pm in the Conference Room
