Birth - 4 Years Old
Programs for Your Young Child (birth – pre-K)
Parenting young children is a big job. Your spiritual formation is as important as your children's, so please enjoy your own Church School, Small group or the like. In addition to the Seekers Church School class that explores issues of parenting and faith formation, periodically throughout the year we offer special programs for parents of all aged children. In the recent past we have sponsored programs on technology and internet safety, sexuality education, conflict and more. (We have used and highly recommend the resources at www.celebratecalm.com and www.girlology.com.)
During worship services and other church-sponsored events, young children can participate in:
- Nursery care for children ages 2 and under. Caregivers and volunteers are delighted to rock and play with your children while you are here. Newborns are welcome. They receive a simple Bible story lesson each week.
- Church School for children ages 3 to 5 (pre-K) is offered each Sunday at 9:30am. Twice a month, children will participate in Godly Play. Growing in Grace and Gratitude is used for the other Sundays of the month. Your child will hear Bible stories, make music and enjoy plenty of movement. During the summer, older 3 year olds and up (and small children of parents who are participating) can be a part of Vacation Bible School. These children attend worship with their parents and then are escorted to their age appropriate classes after Welcoming the Children in worship. Each child needs to bring forward an attendance card (located in the pew and available in the narthex) when they come to Welcoming the Children. Staff and Shepherds will escort the children to their classes. Parents pick them up at the end of the worship hour.
- Vacation Bible School (VBS) is open for children 3 and up if they are potty-trained. For parents who volunteer at VBS we have special programming for all their children 3 and younger and/or in diapers.
