Transition News
Congregational Meeting called
The Session has called a congregational meeting immediately following each Service of Worship the weekend of September 12-13 for the purpose of hearing the report of the Pastor Nominating Committee and taking any actions pertaining thereto. The meeting following the 1 1a.m. services will be jointly held in the sanctuary.

The Presbyterian denomination has outlined the following as the list of steps or procedures in selecting a Pastor/Head of Staff:

A congregational meeting is called to vote to concur with the pastor's request to dissolve the pastoral relationship This meeting was held February 24-25, 2008 following all worship services.

A transition team is formed to provide guidance during the time of change.
The Session appointed the Transition Team. Members of the team are: Carolyn Plumb, Wayne Young, Ann Comfort, Ann Jones, Tony Collins, Brian Stark, and Steve Bright, who will serve as the team chairman.

Transition Committee selects Interim Pastor/Head of Staff. Rev. Tom Robinson is our Interim Head of Staff

Interim Pastor and Transition Team conducts Mission Study to discover Westminster’s future vision. Read Mission Study Results. |

Members are elected to a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). The Members are: Gary Baldwin, Elizabeth Bengtson, Flay Blalock, Evelyn Lukeman, Frannie Motley, Trevor Sharp and Brook Wingate.

The PNC completes a Church Information Form describing the position to be filled. Read the Church Information Form.

The PNC receives candidates’ Personal Information Form that match the selection criteria in Westminster’s Church Information Form. The PNC also may gather candidate names from members of the congregation, friends, Salem Presbytery, and other Presbyteries.

The PNC interviews candidates and selects a person for Head of Staff/Pastor.

The selected candidate is reviewed by Presbytery.
|
 |
Session is asked to call a congregational meeting.
|

The congregation hears the PNC recommendation and votes to issue a call.
Meeting will follow services September 12 and 13, 2009
