A Stephen Ministry Congregation

Task Force Survey

Task Forces have been formed to Discern and Plan for the future of Westminster. As a part of that work the Task Force for Small Groups and Alternative Education would like to ask the congregation at large to participate in a brief online survey.  This Task Force has been asked to review current offerings of classes and small groups to identify areas that can be improved while  creating new possibilities for adults of all ages.  A small group is not just a traditional Sunday School class.  It could mean any group of people connected in any way, meeting in various ways and different times, like our Westminster paddling group.  We need your help, by completing the online survey it allows us to better understand what you would like to see offered, while making your faith journey more meaningful and enhancing your relationships with others in our church and community.  The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and was can be accessed here.  Call the church office if you would like a printed copy of the survey.  Please take a few minutes to candidly complete our survey so we can hear your ideas and help connect more people at Westminster.

4th Annual Habitat “Building on Faith” begins June 10 Please join the long-standing Westminster tradition of building a Habitat for Humanity home for a hard-working Greensboro family.  Westminster and several other local congregations will work side by side to build a home with Shishay Weldesamial and Mebrehit Gebrekidan and their three children at 1717 Kay Street in the Village at Northside.  Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Homeowner Information: Shishay Weldesamial and Mebrehit Gebrekidan are married and have two daughters and a son.  Shishay works for Creative Snacks where he has been employed for the past three years.  Originally from Ethiopia, they immigrated to the United States in 2014 through the assistance of Church World Service.   When applying for a Habitat home Shishay shared his feelings about what a Habitat home will mean to his family: “If we have our own house my kids will have a constant address that will help them keep going in school all the time and we can leave apartment living forever.  We would be so thankful for the blessings a Habitat home would give us.”   Kick-off Information: The build begins Saturday, June 10 and everyone is invited to attend the 9:00 a.m. kickoff program and wall raising ceremony.  If you would like to be a construction volunteer on June 10, please register here or by contacting Ann Comfort in the church office.   Construction Volunteer Information: Currently Westminster is recruiting build volunteers for June 10, July 22, August 5, September 9 and October 14.  This build will consist of Saturday workdays only and volunteers must be 18 years old with the following exceptions.  Minors aged 16 and 17 can volunteer with a chaperone but are not allowed to use power tools or climb higher than 6’ off the ground.  Minors aged 14 and 15 may participate in painting or landscaping projects with a chaperone.  As with all Habitat builds, building skills are not expected or required.  Habitat will train the work crews each day for the tasks at hand.    WPC construction volunteers sign up here  or contact Ann Comfort in the church office.   Driving Directions:  Wendover Ave. east, Summit Ave. north, left on Textile Dr., right on Andover Dr., left on Kay St., the house is on the left across from the playground.
